Apple Jack | Shrub Rose
One of the most well-known shrub roses is Apple Jack. It has a lovely apple and cloves smell to it. These wide single 3" pink blooms are grown on an arching bush with mid-green foliage that resembles one of its parents, the wild rose 'Rosa Luxa,' a robust upright bush with arching canes. It's possible to grow it as a short climber. It is winter hardy in Iowa without cover and will bloom even in dappled sunlight because it is shade tolerant!
