The Vriesea Mundo is a beautiful Brazilian plant that prefers warm, humid conditions and emits a lovely fragrance. The green leaves are arranged in concentric rosettes around the base of the plant. The name ‘Mundo’ is derived from Dutch, where it literally translates into ‘world’.
Vriesea Mundo, a compact emergent plant with a unique funnel shape structure. The effect is created through its multiple purplish violet stems, which emanate from the centre of the plant and radiate to the outside, bringing the floriferous spike upwards. On top of each stem grows large leaves, which are light green with very narrow dark green stripes.
Growing to about 48cm in height and 40cm in diameter, the simple spike-like flowers reach up to 20cm in height and about 2.5cm in diameter. It has a lavender coloured spike with small flowers, which blooms from spring to summer. Florets range from purple to pink and have a purplish shade on the outside of the tube.
