Representing the Polypodiaceae family, the Staghorn fern is native to Asia and Australia. The plant is epiphytic which means it needs to be mounted while growing indoors. Two different leaves resemble the horns of the herbivore rightly complementing its name, Non-flowering in nature spores borne in the edges of the lobed, antler-type fronds are its reproductive organs. The leaves are flat and infertile turning brown and peppery with age, not rooted in soil. The overlapping provides stability. The growth rate is very slow, but when it grows, it grows quite large and impressive.
