Platanus Orientalis (Chinar)
Platanus Orientalis commonly known as Chinar is a very large, wide-spreading, and long-lived deciduous tree of the Platanaceae family, growing to 30 m (98 ft) or more. Known for its longevity and spreading crown, this tree is mainly used for ornamental purposes, particularly given its characteristic speckled stem and its great tolerance to urban stress.
The oriental plane can withstand air pollution, compacted soil, root disturbances, and severe winds while growing in a variety of soil types. Despite being able to withstand some dryness, it loves moist soils and is unable to thrive in the shade.
