Bred by American rose breeder, Tom Carruth and introduced into the United States by Weeks Wholesale Rose Grower, Inc. in 1999, this climber naturally sprawls along the horizontal and vertical surfaces in the garden and landscape. It has a moderate apple and rose fragrance. The plant blooms in flushes from spring to autumn. This climber rose exhibits excellent disease resistance and dark, glossy green foliage.
When grown in a container, you can redirect the vining stems back through the provided trellis to maintain its vigorous growth. If you prefer a wild, sprawling appearance, leave the plant alone. It works best as a climber rose for walls, arbours, trellises, fences, and pillars. Place your Fourth of July Rose in full sun to a light shade all day and water from the bottom, rather than watering from the top down and keeping the leaves wet for too long, to encourage maximum flowering. If your roses do not dry properly, they will become very susceptible to diseases and pests.
