7 Ways To Take Care Of Plants: Easy and Hassle-free
Knowing the fact that little touch of yours is enough to redeem the affection before the plant switches up to you is always satisfying. So here we have some golden tips to turn your experience into a productive learning. Be it shrubs, perennials, succulents or houseplants, the below mentioned tips would definitely help the cause of parenting the plant.
1. Choose a Plant
We must accept the fact that everything we plant does not grow in our backyard, the reason being a plant preference of different climatic conditions. So choosing a plant considering the environment we are living into would definitely bear fruit as per our desire.
2. Watering the Plants
Parenting sometimes could be very tempting as you may not resist the perks of watering but be mindful of what you are doing; it is always better to underwater the plant than over-watering. The cycle of watering on the other hand must change throughout like in summer the plants are thirsty but the ball game of winter is completely different.
Tips:
- Before you pour water see if the soil is dry. Dig at least 2 inches deep to find the soil beneath is moist or not, if it is dry then spill it until the water gushes out of the drainage holes.
- Feed your plants with warm water for better absorption.
- Pour water directly into the soil then sprinkle around stems and leaves.
- Place a saucer under the pot to cater the plant needs of water when you are not nearby.
3. Adjust to Plants Instinct
Who said nurturing is quite monotonous, well it might be if you have not understood the need of your plant. For instance, some indoor plants long for humidity on the other hand desert dwellers do not care about humidity at all. The winter is known for its dry air which does not go well with a houseplant so adjusting an environment with a humidifier will solve the problem once and for all.
4. Be a Good Change
Not every change is good for a reason if a plant is sensitive. Be a good change if and when required or else leave it, some plants are allergic to change and some love the new environment, succulents to be precise loves stability, so changing their place and exposing them to a new environment will only do harm than a good. Even if the change is required for other varieties of plants don’t do it at once, let them get used to the different elements before fitting it into a new environment.
5. Prune to Protect and Not to Harm
Plants are always under constant pressure from the environment, so buy time to show that you really care for them. Dress the growth by removing old growth; trim the dead ends before winter to allow fresh and appealing blooms in spring and summer. To make it a therapeutic experience for a plant use pruning scissors, gloves, and all essential tools.
Do you know the dirt surrounding your leaves, actually blocks the sunlight? So, next time when you see coatings of dirt spritz it with clear water or wipe it with a moist cloth.
6. Let the Plant Choose its Pot
A near-perfect growth can only be achieved if the pot and containers are of the right size. If the plant is growing out their homes then the pot is too small to contain the plant and if it’s not showing a positive sign of growth then the pot perhaps is too big to settle. Let the plant pick its home, forcing them to fit in a place where they don’t feel like is a sin resulting in stunted growth, drying of soil, root-bound pot, and many more. So before potting the plant know the size and the requirements, our collection of pots may be is what your plant been asking for?
7. Know the Fertilizers
It is not a crime to not know what fertilizers to put in the plant, in fact, a little knowledge will lead to problems. So if you are unsure then it’s better to skip than to cause unintentional harm. Things will fall into place once you get more into planting, it’s rather a waste to stress out, be free and positive to see the change.
The whole process may look time-consuming but trust the nature it is not; the steps are effortless and ever connecting. The above-mentioned guidelines are climbs to conversion, it will only lead to happiness and once you become habitual you would rather spend more time with your plants than with a noisy world.
