Your Ultimate Rose Care Guide – Healthy Plants & Gorgeous Blooms!

Dear Gardening Enthusiast,

Are your roses not blooming as expected? Yellowing leaves? Less vibrant flowers?

Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered! In this week’s guide, we're sharing the ultimate care routine for roses that ensures lush green growth and long-lasting blooms. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned gardener, these tips will help transform your rose garden.

🌿 1. Watering – How Much & When?

Roses love water, but too much can harm them. Here’s how to water the right way:

* Water early morning or evening to reduce evaporation.
* Deep watering 2–3 times a week helps maintain soil moisture.
* Increase watering in summer, but make sure it's absorbed and not just sitting on the surface.
* Avoid wetting the leaves – it encourages fungal infections.

☀ 2. Sunlight – How Much is Enough?

* Roses need at least 5–6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
* In very hot climates, provide afternoon shade to reduce stress.
* Floribunda and Polyantha roses thrive in filtered sunlight areas.

🌱 3. Fertilizing – Feed Them Right!

A proper nutrition routine makes all the difference:

* Organic Fertilizer: Every 15 days (cow dung compost, mustard cake, etc.).
* Liquid Fertilizer: Once a month (banana peel tea, seaweed extract).
* NPK Fertilizer: During the active growth season (19:19:19 or 10:26:26).
* Epsom Salt: Every 2 months to keep leaves green and flowering boosted.

✂ 4. Pruning – For Bushy Growth & More Flowers

Pruning keeps your plant healthy and encourages blooming:

* Deadheading faded flowers brings in fresh buds.
* Winter Pruning (Oct–Nov) removes weak and overcrowded stems.
* Summer Pruning clears dry or dead branches.
* Don’t forget a Neem oil spray post-pruning to prevent infections!

🐛 5. Pest & Disease Control

Common problems and how to fix them:

* Aphids & Mealybugs: Neem oil spray (1–2 times a week).
* Black Spots & Powdery Mildew: Spray baking soda + water mix.
* Yellow Leaves: Avoid overwatering; add magnesium sulphate.
* Ants & Spider Mites: Use a soap water spray.

🌸 6. Blooming Boost Tips

Want bigger, better blooms? Try these:

* Epsom salt + Banana peel tea = Bloom booster!
* Eggshells or Bone meal add phosphorus, essential for flowering.
* Ensure good sunlight and airflow to avoid fungus.

📅 7. Seasonal Rose Care

* Summer: Increase watering, provide shade.
* Monsoon: Use neem oil or fungicide to prevent fungal infections.
* Winter: Deep pruning + mulching to keep roots warm.
