Luculia gratissima (mix)
An attractive shrub with clusters of mauve-pink, fragrant flowers from May onwards. Like most family Rubiaceae, the Luculia gratissima is a spreading, semi-evergreen or evergreen large shrub or small tree with lance-shaped ovate, veined leaves to 20cm.
Native to India, Nepal, China and Vietnam, the Luculia gratissima is a bit difficult to grow in the garden as it thrives in a very limited spectrum of day and night temperatures (between 28 to 80 F). It also requires long exposure to indirect sunlight, a higher level of moisture and well-drained soil.
Though a bit difficult to grow, Luculia gratissima is a very rewarding plant that produces long-lasting and fragrant winter flowering. It is usually propagated from seeds or hardwood cuttings.
