Melastoma Candidum

Native to the forests of India, South-East Asia, and Australia, the plant is a tropical and subtropical shrub growing edible fruit and sweet flower. Known for its medicinal use, the roots, leaves and flowering tops act as an astringent and can be used to treat conditions like diarrhoea, dysentery, and leucorrhea. Besides that, the plant can be crushed and applied to heal cuts and wounds.

 Melastoma Candidum, as an evergreen shrub is an erect plant growing at a height of 1.5-5 meters tall. Often grown as ornamental, the wide oval leaves measures 6 to 12 cm in length and 2-4 cm wide. 5 petalled purple flowers bloom in spring and summer along with flowers 8 mm long purple fruits splits open to display a reddish-purple flesh that contains small seeds.

Early spring to late autumn is a perfect time to plant Melastoma Candidum, it requires rich and free-draining soil and a partial shade to grow. Propagation of plants can be done from late summer to early spring through cuttings

These plants are 1ft in height and 1-year-old at the time of delivery.
